Practical Test

The practical test is designed to check your ability to drive safely following the rules of the highway code.

Your test will last approximately 40-45 minutes.  Throughout the test the examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving/

You can make up to 15 driver faults and still pass your test, however if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the practical test.

On your test you will be required to

  • Read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres

  • Answer two safety check questions concerning the car

  • Drive safely and complete one manoeuvre

  • Drive independently for approximately 20 minutes whilst following road traffic signs or sat nav

  • You may be asked to carry out a controlled emergency stop
